Exclusive Breastfeeding in the Indian states – an analysis by different level of Post Neonatal Mortality Rate Abstract – Introduction: Exclusive Breastfeeding is a major public health intervention in the reduction of children mortality Aims and objectives: 1. to determine the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding among children of age under six month in Indian states with different level of PNMR. 2. To find out the determinants and to check the impact of exclusive breastfeeding on selected health outcomes among children of age under six month in Indian states with different level of PNMR. Data and methodology: NFHS-4 data, chi square test, binary logistic regression model has been used. Results: For high PNMR state, birth order, religion, and wealth index also found significantly associated with EBF in high PNMR states. The children who were on exclusive breastfeeding are 34 % significantly less likely to have Diarrhea and 17 % significantly less likely to have Fever than those children who were not on exclusive breastfeeding. Conclusion: It is essential to focus on factors which affect the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in PNMR states and there is need of multi-pronged strategy to improve the situation. Keywords: Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF), determinant, prevalence, (PNMR)
